To Bupe or Not to Bupe: That is the Question.
Participants will be able to identify the key issues surrounding use of buprenorphine in physician participants monitored by PHPs, including use of buprenorphine for opioid replacement therapy and chronic pain, to describe potential harm to society, PHPs, and monitored physicians by utilizing buprenorphine as a treatment modality, and to describe potential harm to society, PHPs, and monitored physicians by NOT utilizing buprenorphine as a treatment modality.

The Trauma of Monitoring Program Participation
Upon completion, persons attending this presentation will be able to:
 1) Recognize and respond in a therapeutic manner to patterns of behavior often seen in monitoring program participants;
 2) Utilize techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Twelve-Step Facilitation in working more effectively with monitoring participants;
 3) Pay closer attention to trauma-based reactions and behaviors in clients and self, bringing a better appreciation of transference and countertransference to the work with those in addiction recovery.
